Membership By Laws

 

By-Law 1.3          Cadet Member

A Cadet Member is any person aged 13 and 14 years old who holds the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) award and is a patrol member. A Cadet shall have the right to notice of, and to be present, debate and vote at General Meetings.

By-Law 1.4          Active Member

An Active Member is any person aged 15 years or over who holds an SLSA or LSV award to qualify as a patrol member and agrees to patrol for a minimum of 16 hours annually. An Active Member shall have the right to notice of, and to be present, debate and vote at General Meetings.

By-Law 1.5          Reserve Active Member

A Reserve Active Member is any person who has completed not less than seven (7) years continuous service as a senior patrol member, is aged over 30 and has satisfactory service as a Member of the Association. A Reserve Active Member shall have the right to notice of, and to be present, debate and vote at General Meetings.

By-Law 1.6           Long Service Member

Long Service memberships are granted to members who have being patrolling and/or competing for the or a club for a longer period of time (min 10 years).  All long service applicants must be approved by the Committee in order to be granted this membership category.

By-Law 1.7          Associate Member

An Associate Member is any person who is over the age of 18 years (at the discretion of the Executive Committee) and may or may not hold any lifesaving awards. Associate Members that are elected to an office or club position shall have the right to notice of, and to be present, debate and vote at General Meetings. Other Associates Members, aged 18 years and over, shall have the right to notice of, and to be present, debate and vote (except on lifesaving operations matters, such as patrol activities, election of Club Captain etc.) at General Meetings.

By-Law 1.8          Life Member

A Life Member is any person who has rendered distinguished service and is already recognised by Barwon Heads/Thirteenth Beach SLSC in the register.

A Life Member is any person who has rendered distinguished voluntary special service to the Association and has been elected a Life Member as set out in Section 9.0 Barwon Heads/Thirteenth Beach Constitution) A Life Member shall have the right to notice of, and to be present, debate and vote at General Meetings.

By-Law 1.10       Social Member

(a)       Applications for social memberships are subject to the approval of the Board.

(b)       Social members have right of access to the Association’s social areas (lounge, decking, bar, and associated toilet facilities) but do not have access to any other facilities or equipment including the changing rooms, gym and craft storage.

(c)       A social member cannot represent the Association or participate in any active Lifesaving award training or re-qualification activities. 

(d)       A social member cannot participate as an Official at Carnivals or train or qualify as an Official.

(e)       A social member cannot participate as an Age Group Manager at a Carnival.

(f)        A social member cannot use club equipment or occupy tents or marquees at carnivals.

(g)       Social members have no voting rights and cannot be appointed to the Board.

(h)       Social members will be a member of Surf Life Saving Australia and Life Saving Victoria.

(i)        Social members may sign in two (2) guests who may only access the Association’s social areas while in the presence of the social member.

(j)        A social member is not required to hold a current WWCC.

(k)       For the purposes of liquor licence requirements, a person attending a Life Saving Carnival hosted by the Association, who has enrolled or signed in on the day at the Carnival either as a competitor, carnival official or water safety official will be deemed to be a social member for the day of the carnival.
